April 2018 Main Prize
Factor 55 introduces a new line of Aluminum Hawse Fairleads. The 1.0 and 1.5 fairleads are CNC machined from 1 and 1.5 inch thick USA 6000 series aluminum bar. The industry standard fairlead thickness is .75 inches thick.
The thicker aluminum bar results in a larger outer fillet radius for the synthetic rope to slide against. This results in less stress on the rope fibers during high angular pulls, increasing the life of your synthetic rope. The 1.0 and 1.5 fairleads are the industry’s first Hawse fairleads compatible with larger ½ inch diameter rope tube thimbles.
The rope slot height opening is taller to allow the larger ½” tube thimbles to pass through. There is also a machined outer corner chamfer to reduce rope stress for those than plan on using the winch as a front suspension “suck down” device. These fairleads come in a durable MIL-A-8625F TYPE III gun metal gray hard anodized finish with a laser engraved logo.
FlatLink E (EXPERT)
The FlatLink E (Expert) is a variation of our popular foldable standard FlatLink winch shackle mount. The FlatLink E provides a means to eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and more secure screw pin shackle resulting in a CLOSED SYSTEM WINCHING operation. The large pear shaped shackle mounting hole allows for attachment to either the pin or bow end of common screw pin shackles, as well as common OEM recovery points. This makes the new FlatLink E more versatile than the current FlatLink design, but it also adds the possibility of a dangerous shackle side loading condition (See Picture), especially during momentary slack conditions. A shackle side loading condition is not possible with our standard FlatLink shackle mount due to the shackle pin mounting constraint. For the recreational off roader we highly recommend the safer standard FlatLink product, not the FlatLink E. This way the winch operator does not have to monitor whether the shackle may have shifted and rotated in the recovery tackle. The FlatLink E is only available in the Military Specification Anodizing (Mil-A-8625 F Type III) hard anodized gray finish.
FlatLink Rope Guard
The Rope Guard for the FlatLink line of products. This includes the FlatLink, FlatLink E, and the new Flat Splicer and FlatLink Multimount products. For you hardcore off-roaders and off-road trainers, the new Rope Guard provides complete synthetic rope protection from damaging UV light as well as impact and abrasion damage. As you can see, when using the Rope Guard, all exposed synthetic rope surfaces are positioned behind the guard and fairlead, allowing you to use the Rope Guard as a skid surface when attempting to climb tall vertical obstacles.

Prize: 1 Year Subscription to Throttle Gals Magazine
A Throttle Gal is smart, mechanical, technical and not afraid to get dirty. She asks questions and is willing to help someone out. She loves all things motorized and doesn’t discriminate: Motorcycles or cars, trucks or airplanes, boats or trains… it’s all cool in her book! She has good morals and is a helpful and kind person, although she might also have a little bit of a bad girl side. When Doni and Trish came up with Throttle Gals it was meant to be a way to reach out to gals like them, and dudes who liked to read about these gals, & support them. A Throttle Gal might look like a pin up – or be completely dressed down, restating the point is that she isn’t just eye candy. When we started this magazine we made it a point that we weren’t about chicks posing on their boyfriend’s cars. There is a place for that, and we respect it immensely, however Throttle Gals are gals who have their own ride and are proud of showing it off! Throttle Gals is a magazine by, for and about women who like things that go vroom!
