About Laura

Laura Butcher Ladies Offroad NetworkLaura Butcher is the CEO and owner of Valley Off‑Road Racing Association (VORRA), one of the longest-running off-road racing organizations in the western United States, founded in 1975. A retired firefighter paramedic, Laura transitioned from emergency services into motorsports leadership, where her ability to manage high-pressure situations now fuels race operations, land-use advocacy, and community development. She also serves as Executive Director of Farmy’s Off‑Road Park, Associate Director of the Nevada Off‑Road Association (NVORA), and supports major events including King of the Hammers through permitting and government relations.

Laura has been nominated twice for the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Impact Award (2019, 2024), won the 2024 People’s Choice Award, and in 2025 received a Partnership Award from the Nevada Bureau of Land Management for her work bridging racing, land managers, and industry partners. She serves on boards including Friends of Moon Rocks and the Yerington Chamber of Commerce, and advises Travel Nevada committees as an off-road industry expert for rural destination development. A racer herself, Laura has competed in the Rebelle Rally and powder puff races, and continues to support grassroots competitors across the West. At home in Reno, Nevada, she is a wife, dog mom, and proud mother to a nine-year-old racer-in-training raising the next generation by example.

What We Think

“What I loved most about this conversation is her honesty…about how hard race promotion really is, about making unpopular decisions, and about always choosing facts over feelings. Laura reminds us that leadership isn’t loud, it’s consistent. This episode is a masterclass in resilience, preparation, and doing the right thing even when it’s difficult.” ~ Charlene
