How long have you been competing in Rock Crawling?  What Classes?  Finishes?  I have been competing for 3 years and I have been on the podium twice (2nd &3rd place).

How did you get into rock crawling and decide to go competitive?  What is your background?  I grew up watching my Dad Matt Messer rockcrawl for as long as I can remember and when I was 12 years old I asked my Dad when I could do it.  He said when I was 14 - and he put me in the car at 14!  I got to practice one time and went out to my first comp in Arizona and got 6th place.

Olivia Messer WErock Ladies Offroad NetworkWhat has been your most exciting achievement in W.E. Rock Rock Crawling?  Getting 2nd place would probably be my greatest achievement but I have a great time at every comp with my Dad and Chris and all of Team Trail-Gear.

What is the most challenging part of Rock Crawling?  I would say the most challenging thing about rock crawling for me is that I am not as experienced as the other drivers and spotters so that can be kind of a road block but I'm learning more and more every comp.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics of a good rock crawler? You have to be determined, focused and fearless.

What does event prep look like in your world?  Not much prep goes into it for me. Nick and my Dad work on the cars.  I am not really involved in that part of it.  We don't practice as much as I'd like due to me being a teenager and rock crawling not being my #1 priority because I have school, church, etc.

Olivia Messer WErock Ladies Offroad NetworkWhat does a typical competition weekend look like for your team?  We either drive or fly in and arrive on Thursday night.  We do a team dinner, practice and then walk courses.  On Friday we have a team dinner again, get a good rest, wake up early to get there hours before the comp, walk courses, get focused, check the cars, drivers meeting, then we start.

What do you look forward to at W.E. Rock events, past the actual competition?  Obviously driving (lol) but I love the spectators and being able to share my story and communicate and make sure they have a good time.  I love laughing and having a good time with Chris and the TG fam.

What are your goals for this year’s W.E. Rock Series?  My goal is to just learn more and more and start winning!

What excites you about competing? Everything. I love competing and doing every course (finishing or not)

What is a piece of advise that you have been given that you have taken to heart and instill into your racing career?  Or, quote that you always remember.  You can do anything you set your mind to" -my mom

Olivia Messer WErock Ladies Offroad NetworkTell us about the rest of the Team that Supports you.  Define the roll of the driver and spotter in your team.  Chris is a big support in every way. When we do good we are always talking about how we did good and give each other fist bumps and get excited.  Then when we do bad we talk through it and see how we can improve and do better.
