How do you know your Driver? Wade is my boyfriend of 16 years.
How many times have you raced King of the Hammers? We have never raced King of the Hammers. This is our 5th year attending and our first year racing.
How did you get into Ultra4 Racing? We got into it by attending KOH 5 years ago. That was the week Wade decided he wanted to build a car and race. We have been rock crawling for a few years. We have a tube chassis buggy with a Toyota motor that we use. Now we have the 4883 Legends car.
What has been your most exciting achievement in Ultra4 Racing? My most exciting moment so far has been Ultra4 Nationals in Reno, NV this past October. That was Wade's first race, and it was his birthday weekend. He did awesome and finished his first race. I was not able to co-drive that race because he had to have a spotter and we are a two-person crew. For KOH, we have help from a couple close friends.
What does race prep look like in your world? Race Prep for me is getting all the tools, liquids, and camp essentials all together. I get the toy hauler and race trailer loaded with everything; help work on the car; order parts, wheels, and tires; and get a food menu going for us and the crew.
What are you looking forward to at this year's King of the Hammers? This year, I'm looking forward to racing. I mean, it is our first KOH race! We are also looking forward to meeting more people, other crews, and other sponsors. We are lucky to have a couple of our local businesses sponsor us and, of course, Trail-Gear is our biggest sponsor for our first year.
What are your goals for this year's King of the Hammers? My goal for our first KOH is to navigate Wade in all the right directions, make it through the course, and come in on time and finish our first KOH.
What excites you about racing? Well that's a loaded question for me.Wade also races Asphalt Circle track stock car, and a modified, and I'm his pit crew there as well. My favorite part about racing is race fuel. I love the smell, and I would wear it as perfume if they would bottle it. But the Legends car runs pump gas so I may need to go to a friend's tent to smell that lovely smell. Apart from that, I really love helping and learning. I love setting up the cars and working on them, but most of all, I love that Wade is willing to teach me things and that we do it together.
What is a piece of advice that you have been given? I have been told so many things over the years we have been racing, but the one thing I always remember and tell Wade all the time is to Have Fun! Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life. I guess that rings true for me since I love everything about racing and love learning and working on the cars. After many jobs, I finally found something I love. We opened our own business 7 years ago and I couldn't be happier. We have a sign, banner, and shirt shop in our town called Coleman's Customs. I do tons of the local track's cars and school sports around our area.
Tell us about the Team that Supports you. Our team is usually Wade, myself, and our good friend, Anthony Meo. He is always there to help us and knows his way around cars. We are pretty much a 3 person team, and he will be at KOH with us in the pits. He is our go to guy for help. We will have a couple other friends out there to help us, too.
