Camping Ham and Cheese Rolls

LON-Daily-Dirt-Ham RollsThe best meals for off-roading are delicious and easy to make! It’s hard to prepare a full meal out on the trail, and you definitely don’t want to cut in to your wheeling time with meal prep and clean up. These delicious rolls are easy to prepare ahead of time and keep in your cooler till you’re ready for a meal, and are super easy to clean up! Don’t worry, it’s a lot more filling than it might look!

Ingredients

Here is the list of ingredients to make basic ham and cheese rolls. These ingredients can be modified to make any number of sandwich combinations!

  • Thin Sliced Smoked Ham
  • Thin Sliced Honey Ham
  • Mustard
  • Mayonnaise
  • Hawaiian Rolls
  • Sliced Swiss Cheese
  • Sliced Colby Jack Cheese
  • Cooler

Directions

Carefully pull the cardboard holder of rolls out of the bag (try not to tear the bag or cardboard, these are great for storage). Unhook the sides of the cardboard container, and lay the sides flat. Keep all the rolls together as one ‘sheet’. Using a bread knife, LON-Daily-Dirt-Ham Rollscut the entire sheet of rolls in half and remove the top half. Using a butter knife spread a generous portion of mustard on the top half of the rolls and mayonnaise on the bottom half. On top of the mayonnaise, lay a layer of sliced Colby Jack cheese, then layer your smoked and honey ham (you can put as many layers as you would like), and finish it with a top layer of sliced Swiss cheese. Place your top half back on top of the rolls. Re-hook the sides of the cardboard container back together, and slide your sandwiches back into the bag for storage.

Charlene Tip: To make handing out your sandwiches easier, precut the individual rolls once you’ve finished assembling your sandwiches. This makes pulling them apart easier!

Once your out on the trail, you can simply pull your bag of sandwich rolls out of your cooler and enjoy! The best part is that it comes with its own trash bag/storage bag! Re-bag uneaten rolls to stick back in the cooler or stuff all your trash in the bag to conveniently throw away later (remember pack out what you pack in).
